Independent Standards for Online Cognitive Assessments

ICAS evaluates online IQ, cognitive, and psychological assessment platforms against a transparent, published methodology - so consumers and professionals can make informed decisions.

What ICAS Does

Evaluate Assessment Platforms

We review online cognitive and psychological assessment tools against six weighted criteria: test validity, scoring transparency, pricing clarity, billing fairness, data privacy, and user-reported experience.

Publish Transparent Standards

Our full scoring rubric is publicly available. Every criterion, every weight, and every evaluation method is documented so our process can be scrutinized and understood.

Maintain Editorial Independence

Platforms do not pay for reviews. Scores are determined solely by our methodology. Our editorial standards and any affiliate relationships are disclosed openly.

Why Independent Evaluation Matters

Online cognitive and IQ assessments are used by millions of people each year - for personal insight, educational planning, professional development, and clinical screening. Yet there is no broadly accepted standard for evaluating whether these platforms deliver scientifically sound results, disclose their methods, or treat their users fairly.

Many assessment sites use impressive-sounding language without publishing the psychometric foundations of their tests. Pricing structures can be opaque. Subscription billing and cancellation processes are frequently reported as points of frustration.

ICAS exists to address this gap. By applying a consistent, public methodology to each platform we review, we aim to provide a reliable reference point for anyone who wants to understand what they are getting before they pay for an assessment.

Evaluation Criteria at a Glance

Each platform is scored across six weighted dimensions. The full rubric, including sub-criteria and scoring guidelines, is published in our Methodology.

Criterion Weight Focus
Test Validity & Scientific Rigor 25% Psychometric foundations, norming, reliability data
Scoring Transparency 20% How scores are calculated and communicated
Pricing Clarity 15% Upfront disclosure of all costs
Billing & Cancellation Fairness 15% Ease of cancellation, refund policies, dark patterns
Data Privacy & Security 15% Data collection, retention, third-party sharing
User-Reported Experience 10% Aggregated user feedback and satisfaction data
